Until the 18th century, Plaats was the square where public executions took place. Now it’s a cheerful place with shops and restaurants, like Palmette. In summer, the terrace of this bar-restaurant is one of the most historical places for a coffee or a drink, while admiring the façades of the surrounding old buildings and the medieval prison gate.

4) La Rana

This Spanish wine bar with a modern take on tapas has a beautiful large terrace on the Huygenspark. La Rana has been there for ages, but was recently taken over by new owners who have unrecognisably updated it in every aspect. On the menu are interesting dishes, such as fennel salad with a yoghurt-limoncello dressing and fried cauliflower with romesco sauce. Great vibes!
